DC Fashion Week to Feature Bridal Designs, International Couture Collection Show
Event Brings High Fashion from around the Globe to the Nation’s Capital
WASHINGTON -- The 13th DC Fashion Week beginning Monday, September 20 will feature its first couture bridal collection, a menswear collection show, and end on a high note on Sunday with an “International Couture Collections Show” at the French Embassy.
D.C. Fashion Week brings some of the most talented designers on the planet to the nation’s capital. The week of events will introduce audiences to spring and summer 2011 collections, DC Fashion Week Executive Director Ean Williams said. “We are often asked about bridal designers and thought now is the perfect opportunity to allow the wedding community to come together for a special exhibit,” Williams said. “The beautiful courtyard of the Textile Museum , which is one of the world’s foremost specialized art museums, serves as an ideal backdrop for the perfect wedding.”
Highlights of the week include the bridal show on Monday; Ukraine Fashions at the Embassy of the Ukraine on Wednesday; a “Fashion Industry Networking Party” at the Tabaq Bistro located on the trendy U Street corridor on Thursday; Corjor International at the Park on 14thon Friday; the “Washington Menswear Collections Show” at the Doubletree Hotel in Crystal City on Saturday; and the grand finale “International Couture Collections Show” at the French Embassy on Sunday.
Attendees to the Fashion Industry Network Party can buy art from local artists, which will be displayed at the venue. The “Washington Menswear Collections Show” will also feature several musical acts, including D’Angelo Redman from Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ “Making the Band” on MTV and DC Fashion Week favorites “No Label,” a female group that has appeared on BET’s “106 and Park.”
“DC Fashion Week has opened many doors for models, designers and creative people,” said Williams, who is also a designer. “Fresh from my collection debut European appearance at Fashion Showcase in Belgrade in June, our mission to establish Washington as an international center of fashion is becoming more of a reality than just a vision.”
About DC Fashion Week: DC Fashion Week is considered one of the fastest growing international fashion week exhibits in the world and is held twice a year in February and September. DC Fashion Week now reaches an audience of more than 10 million per fashion week.
