It's officially fall in the Baltimore/D.C. metro area. This means that it's time to pull out the fur collection!
As I have stated in my previous blog posts, I am originally from Birmingham, Alabama and generally, we only wear (wool) swing coats between the months of November through February. But I quickly discovered, while living in Maryland, that it's a different ballgame on the Eastcoast!
You do not have to be a celebrity to own a few faux fur coats. Any lady can shop at a thrift store or fur outlet in the summer/spring months and find a fur coat for merely a few bucks!
Aside from just owning a fur, whether it is real or faux, ladies must understand how to care for such an item. Fur coats are drastically different from any other type of outer wear and this means that you can damage your coat (if not cared for properly!) Below are some quick tips for maintaining your (lovely) fur collection:
Caring For Your Faux Fur Collection:
1. Store in a cool, dry area
2. Make sure that it is properly dry cleaned (suggested every 6-8 weeks)
3. Beware of water when wearing a faux fur coat (it can damage the fibers)
4. Never place on a hanger, fold your coat like it's a napkin
Owning a faux fur coat can be lots of fun and make you feel like a superstar, but with any fashion item, you have to love and care for it properly! As fashion divas, we love trends but we're also striving to build a classic, timeless wardrobe...
