Huge Potential: Baltimore Fashion Week 2009

Baltimore Fashion Week was an event that showcased local Baltimore designers who are up and coming on the fashion circuit. In its sophomore year, the theme was " Once Upon A Fashionable Dream." The designer showcase for the week's finale included KAMI JAMMIES, MALI ROSE, IRREGULAR EXPOSURE, IZO - EHI, BOTHDOI FASHIONS, E DESIGNS, DUANE WALKER, and LT DICKENS, VIOLA RICCI.

This event had a lot of exposure, keeping the local Twitter board very busy. Overall, the event received mixed reviews. Below are a few Twitter posts related to the event:

  • delicateimage Baltimore Fashion Week was great, I'm will attend next year.
  • fastesthurdler Never patronize nor sign up to be a vendor at Baltimore Fashion Week. To sum it up...unorganized and unprofessional. I do not recommend it!
  • arie_ily At Baltimore's Fashion Week. It's ardd.
  • JMADDD From a HIghlight standpoint, we saw Baltimore emerge with it's own Fashion week, it has a way to go, NONE THE LESS it's a great thing the potential to make fashion "waves" for the Charm City!
  • cruel_MODEL baltimore fashion week is done........whew was fun.

Being that the event is in it's sophomore year, it still has some way to go before it is on par with New York's Fashion Week. Nevertheless, congratulations to the "Charm City" for bringing a fashion week to Baltimore. There's huge potential for this to become a staple event in the fashion industry. With the possibility of support from business savvy investors, the city of Baltimore, and national fashion moguls, the sky is the limit for Baltimore Fashion Week.
