Heart Kids - Blackmore's Sydney Running Festival
A few of you may already know that a genetic heart condition affects a few
members of my family. One of them, my step son, and his girlfriend are
running in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival.
They are running to raise funds for heart kids a charity to help little people
with heart conditions. We are so lucky that the research and technology has
come so far as my stepdaughter and her little man ( nearly 2 ) have the
genetic condition as well as my step son who is running this weekend with
his girlfriend.
You can help raise much needed funds for continued research into heart
conditions by going to their fundraising page on the
HeartKids are a not for profit organisation, run by both employees and
volunteers who are concerned with the care of children either born with or
who acquire Congenital Heart Disease. We offer support to families both in
hospital, at home and in rural NSW. We rely on the generosity of our members,
the corporate sector and our own fundraising efforts.

Christina Applegate to Launch Cancer Charity in September
Cancer survivorChristina Applegate is launching a charity to help at-risk women who can't afford the proper preventative care. The Anchorman star will launch Right Action For Women in September this year and hopes the project will aid women get any cancer detected early. She tells WENN, "It's a program giving financial aid to high-risk women who can't afford to get MRIs, which is how I found my cancer. It's unfortunate that insurance companies (in America) don't cover the cost of that. It's such an incredible device because you can find it at an early detection stage. We started our pilot program and started helping women already, even though we aren't launched."
"The other aspect of the programme is to do genetic counselling and help women understand what being high-risk means, and understanding what foods are good for their bloods and how to prevent this disease from happening. That has been my mission."
It's a happy time for Applegate - as well as launching the new charity drive, she also has new films coming out and recently announced she is expecting her first child.

Betty White Calendar
We wouldn't mind getting older if it really is as much fun as Betty White makes it look. The young-at-heart actress is starring in her own calendar, complete with hunky, young, shirtless men. Proceeds from the calendar benefit her Morris Animal Foundation. The calendar goes on sale in September. You go, Betty!
Update: The calendar isn't all Betty White has cooking. WWD reported today on Betty White hoodies.
