Simple Skin Beauty: Must Have Skin Care Handbook!

Part of the mission for this blog is to not only feature "highlights" from the fashion industry, but to also engage readers with information about beauty and style.
If you are on a quest to have perfect, radiant skin we have a treat for you! Ellen Marmur, MD and Gina Way are the authors of a "must have" skin care book titled Simple Skin Beauty. The contents of this book explain several of the questions we ask ourselves about skin care on a daily basis. Examples of the book content include how the skin works; factors that influence your skin; what does a dermatologist do; and can anti-aging products make you look younger.

This book captured my attention by asking readers to start with a Skin Evaluation. By participating in a skin evaluation, this guides readers to the next chapter titled, Factors That Influence Our Skin. Knowing what factors influence your skin helps us get to the root of the problem before we can discover a solution. According to Marmur and Way, " For instance, eating spicy food and drinking alcohol tend to make rosacea worse. If that happens to be the case for you, managing the problem is clear: an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

The authors also go into detail with additional information that could hinder healthy skin such as heredity and ethnic background; medications; and hormones. And lastly, they explain cosmetic procedures that deliver or produce results. Procedures include chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments. To conclude the handbook (located in the back) is a section for questions and answering. Participants ask the authors, " If I stop Botox or Dysport, will the lines get worse? Is it preventative?"

Often, I receive compliments about my skin and complexion from family and friends. But honestly, I am very particular about skin care because I suffer from a hereditary skin disease call Eczema. Eczema is considered to be extreme inflammation to the outer layer of the skin which can result in dryness, itching, or redness. But over the years, I have discovered (with the help of my mother) how I can take a negative and turn it into a positive, by learning techniques that will help combat extreme dryness.

Fashion Divas, let's have radiant skin and educate others on how to be beautiful in our natural state. Check out the book, Simple Skin Beauty and try a new skin care regimen that's going to lead you to a path of gorgeous skin! I strongly recommend that you purchase this book!
